The dromedary - the big star

"Babar the Dromedary"

Babar is the star of Mama Ulli's Family Ranch - and he loves the fame and glory! But how did Babar come to us? There's a great story to read at the reception! In a nutshell: the dromedary originally came to the Bergschlössl as a guest after an adventurous journey. Here it was welcomed by the Hinteregger family with open arms and it actually felt so at home that it decided to stay. Mama Ullis' petting zoo and animal park is now its new home! Feeding is only allowed under supervision though!

5 facts you probably didn't know yet:

• Babar is the FIRST dromedary gelding in South Tyrol!
• Dromedaries are more resistant to cold and heat than we are! They feel comfortable at up to 40°C plus and minus!
• Dromedaries like little treats and love grass , hay and carrots!
• Dromedaries have a great memory! They remember for a very long time when you play a trick on them. So pay attention and always be kind to our dear Babar.
• Babar came to Mama Ulli's zoo when he was 1.5 years old - so we still have a lot of time ahead of us together, because dromedaries can live up to 50 years!

Pony riding and for little ones and smaller!

"Pony Lela and Dwarf Pony Siegfried"

Pony riding is on the weekly programme - walking with pony Lela and dwarf pony Siegfried. The two are self-confident and super cool! They love kids and dandelions. They love to eat the flowers out of your hand, but watch out - otherwise they will nibble your fingers! The two friends are not shy and are very fond of people, but above all they are playful, so be careful when petting them.

The Alpaca Bros

"The Cool Men Gang"

Nero, the little black one, is the boss, followed by Wolle, the white one, Paul the pied one and Chocolat the brown one. In the male gang, relaxing is always on the agenda. Calm and relaxed, the boys chill out in the enclosure and enjoy the great view of the playground. They love the company of the kids.

Don't judge - the boys only spit among themselves, so don't be afraid and approach the fence calmly. They like grass, hay and alpaca muesli.

P.S. to all dog owners: The alpacas are afraid of dogs, please be respectful and keep them on a leash.

Our gang of bunnies

"Hop Hi and Hop Da! Bunny Hop and Tralalah!"

Felix and Bunny have been living in Mama Ulli's zoo for a long time, and new friends and little hoppers keep joining them. In summer, they are particularly fond of dandelions and are happy to be fed with them! The bunnies love to cuddle most of all with you! Please make sure that the nimble hoppers don't run away and always close the doors before you go on!

Our hardworking laying hens

"The busy Chicks"

Gudrun, Gerdraud and Helga are the leaders of the girls' gang. They are always in a good mood and chatting. Ladies' talk is on the agenda! They look forward to the daily visit of the kids to take out the eggs, because Gudrun and the others love to get compliments for their work! Our hens make a great contribution to the fresh sustainable breakfast in the hotel. Good job, dear egg layers!

The dear donkeys

"Linda and Luca, the two golden donkeys"

Our golden donkeys were the first residents of the zoo. They love to be petted! They are also happy about small snacks in between. They especially love hard bread, apples and carrots! But watch out for your fingers when feeding them, so that they don't bite into them by mistake! If you're lucky, the donkeys will even put on a great show! They jump, dance, scuffle and run around the enclosure. They were born for show business...

Like mum, like daughter - our black-nosed sheep

"Lella and Babett"

Just as likeable as Lella is little Babett. Both jump and romp through the spacious enclosure early in the morning and wake up the guests with their bleating. They get on very well with the chickens and even invite them into their enclosure. They love to be petted and cuddled, but please do not throw any food scraps into the enclosure! The sheep eat grass, hay and suitable concentrated feed.

The pygmy goats

"Zenzi and Zita"

The two sisters are fast, nimble and clever! They are always exploring and looking for little hiding places to visit their friends in the zoo! They love to be fed and petted. The two playful ladies are tame and sweet.
